A few more brick walls to bang my head against

Woah, what a day! I had to apply for last minute homeowners. The insurance company wasn't happy, but they were nice and complied with my last minute wishes. However, I got a call back from them saying that I was denied because I own a "dangerous breed dog." I have an American Staffordshire Terrier (a close relative to the pit bull...in fact the AKC shows them as the same breed). She is the sweetest, nicest dog as many of them are. Well, thanks to media hype (most "pit bull" attacks aren't even American Pit Bull Terriers or American Staffordshire Terriers) and sue happy creeps, I couldn't get homeowners. Finally, my agent found someone who'll insure our home with our dog, but we can't have liability insurance. I've been bitten by just about every kind of dog moreso then I've ever been bitten by a pit bull!

So, I took what I could because I need it for closing, but I'm doing heavy searching to find a company that'll give us a decent rate, liability and who just doesn't care that we have a sweet, harmless doggy just like millions of other Americans.

I also couldn't find a shower curtain. Searching and searching led to nothing, so finally, I settled on a semi-sheer white one with a little ribbon embroidery. Hopefully, hubby won't mind that bit of femininity.

At least the closing is still on for tomorrow!

Our daughter was born at 7:17 pm, May 27th after only 2 1/2 hours of labor and 10 minutes of pushing! She weighed in at 6lbs 5 ounces and measured at 19 inches long....another little peanut! It was all-natural, baby! No induction, no pitocin, no pain relievers, no episiotomy! All prayers have been answered by the Lord except for her nursing ability. She's not a very good nurser, though she was a champ just after she was born. She's getting better, though and I continue in prayer that she improves. I pray that when my milk comes in, she'll be a great nurser. I'm also in prayer about her jaundice. I'm sorry, but I just have to gripe...

What is it with this trend of calling women "Miss" and their first name? I really dislike being called "Miss Kate." First of all, I am NOT a "Miss" and secondly, Kate is my familiar nickname. I am very proudly Mrs. Scott. Calling me Mrs. Scott does not make me feel old or detached. On the other hand, "Miss Kate" makes me sound like a child and lowered in societal and respectable standards rather than the married mother that I am. I don't want to be called Miss Kate, nor do I want my children to address adult women in that manner. Which brings up another point; men don't receive that kind of watered down respect. They get addressed properly as Mr. Smith, not Mr. John. Unfortunately, the three greatest offenders are a close friend, my sister-in-law, and my church.
