Marguerite Patten

Marguerite Patten, then.
Marguerite Patten, OBE, now.

I have recently learned about Marguerite Patten, the home economics and wartime rationing and cooking queen of England. The little I've seen of her on BBC's "1940's House" reveals a woman of grace and positive thinking. I look forward to learning more about her and her home economics. I have found some of her books on etsy, but I am looking for her wartime rationing cookbook now.

I, too, found her fascinating when I watched 1940's House. I just LOVE 1940's House and have it on DVD.

Absolutely thrilled to see your Marguerite Patten post. 1940s House is the best "go back in time and live it" series that has been done because the family was really committed to the project. Miss (?) Patten was such a wonderful part of that program. I've since ordered one of her wartime cookbooks but haven't worked up the nerve yet to actually try one of the recipes.
