A Blog Shout Out!

Now, I'm not one to read or even visit the blogs of men. However, I came across this blog through a Christian women's site (a blog post of his was shared by his proud mother) and I had to read more. What a wise, young man of Christ! It is really uplifting to read what he has to write.

lack of interest
topics that don't always pertain to me
I have a limited time online, so I'll tend to spend the time on like-interest blogs run by women since they are usually the ones raising children and homemaking.
It's not a blanket rule. I've been to blogs of men hubby and I know. I've been to news blogs, farm blogs, tiny house blogs, etc written by men. I'm not opposed to visiting the blogs of men in some legalistic way. Granted, there is a part of me that doesn't typically peruse such blogs out of respect for hubby, but it's not some "see what a good little chaste wife I am" attitude. It kinda has to do with certain blogs being like personal journals. I'm just not prone to taking time out of my day to deliberately search them out. It's not like, "oooh...a man wrote this blog, I better leave!" Not like that at all. :)

Our daughter was born at 7:17 pm, May 27th after only 2 1/2 hours of labor and 10 minutes of pushing! She weighed in at 6lbs 5 ounces and measured at 19 inches long....another little peanut! It was all-natural, baby! No induction, no pitocin, no pain relievers, no episiotomy! All prayers have been answered by the Lord except for her nursing ability. She's not a very good nurser, though she was a champ just after she was born. She's getting better, though and I continue in prayer that she improves. I'm sorry, but I just have to gripe...

What is it with this trend of calling women "Miss" and their first name? I really dislike being called "Miss Kate." First of all, I am NOT a "Miss" and secondly, Kate is my familiar nickname. I am very proudly Mrs. Scott. Calling me Mrs. Scott does not make me feel old or detached. On the other hand, "Miss Kate" makes me sound like a child and lowered in societal and respectable standards rather than the married mother that I am. I don't want to be called Miss Kate, nor do I want my children to address adult women in that manner. Which brings up another point; men don't receive that kind of watered down respect. They get addressed properly as Mr. Smith, not Mr. John. Unfortunately, the three greatest offenders are a close friend, my sister-in-law, and my church.
